Priyamani to pair with Surya in Rakta Charitra

Actress Priyamani has been signed by Ram Gopal Varma to play heroine opposite Surya in his film bilingual Raktha Charithra. The film reportedly will be shot in three different languages Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously.

Rakta Charitra film is about the bloody faction fights in Cuddaph region of Andhra, which saw the rise of real life gangsters like Paritala Ravi and Maddelachervu Suri, who later became politicians. Paritala Ravi is being played by Vivek Oberoi and Suri by Suriya, while Priyamani will play the role of his wife Gangula Bhanumati. Read the rest of this entry »

Surya Pairs up with Shruti Haasan

After a vigorous hunt for actresses, A. R. Murugadoss has finally zeroed on Kamal Haasan’s elder daughter Shruti Haasan for his upcoming film. The film is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin of Red Giant Movies and has Surya playing the lead role.

Though according to grapevine, earlier Murugadoss was keen on roping Asin as the female lead but finally took the decision to cast Shruti with Surya. Surya Completes Singam Movie Shooting

Surya has nearly completed his shooting for his upcoming film Singam. Surya and Anuksha along with crew members has flown to the exotic locations of Dubai along with choreographer Brindha to shot for a song.

Within 7 days the 2 duet songs were shot across the exotic locations of Dubai and Muscat with Brindha choreographing them. The original schedule to shoot two duet songs was 10 days, but because of Surya’s dedication the crew was able to complete the songs in 7 days and return to chennai. The entire Singam crew is amazed at Surya’s dedication to work.

Singam is being produced by Studio Green Productions Gnanavel Raja, uncle of Surya. Prakash Raj does the villian role in the movie and Vivek takes care of the comedy. Devi Sri Prasad has scored music for the film. The movie is all set to hit the screens in the month of April and it will be a big summer release. Singam is one of the most expected movies of 2010 since Surya is back after hat trick of Box office hits with Vaaranam Aayiram, Ayan and Aadhavan.

Gautham Menon Excited on Winning National Award

Gautham Menon is quite excited that his film “Vaaranam Aayiram” has bagged the National award for the best regional Tamil film.

“Though I have done several films, this is my first award. And to get a prestigious award as your first award is something to cheer about. I am very happy that the National Award jury recognised the merits of the film and selected it for the honour,” Menon, 34 told, IANS.

He is considered as one of the top most Tamil film director and has proved his mettle by directing tasteful films like “Khakka Khakka”, “Minnale” and “Vettaiyaadu Vizhaiyaadu”. All these films have combined aesthetics with commercial values and proved to be hugely successful at the box office.

Compared to his previous films, “Vaaranam Aayiram” was an average success. But the film was critically acclaimed for its brilliant screenplay, top class performance from the lead actor Surya and high-class technical values.

“Many people associated with my films got prestigious awards like state awards and Filmfare awards. But I didn’t get any award. Naturally this National Award has given me a big boost and has increased my responsibility,” said Menon. Read the rest of this entry »
